“In the nineteenth century, the central moral challenge was slavery. In the twentieth century, it was the battle against totalitarianism. We believe that in this century the paramount moral challenge will be the struggle for gender equality around the world.”
― Nicholas D. Kristof, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide

My opinion has not really changed about Women Rights and Women Equality. I have always believed that men have the upper hand while women are looked down upon. But this quote really pulls the topic apart, piece by piece, on how woman equality has changed over the centuries. It showed me that it has taken this long to get this far and we still have a long way to go. We still have strides to take to make equality better. Back in the 1800’s, women were expected to stay at home and take care of the children, but now a day, women are expected to get a job in the world, but those jobs are not of equal status as men. Many times when a job positon needs to be filled, the hiree will choose a man over a woman because of the many sterotypes. I can’t wait to see what changes will take place in the future.
